Razom is pleased to announce a new RazomPartners project to support students from Ukraine at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) – MathOlymp.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers in Ukraine over the past years many mathematical tournaments and olympiads are held for high school students. The news and updates are regularly posted on website and Facebook group .
During year of 2016 there our volunteers held more than 30 separate competitions on 4 different levels (International, All-Ukrainian, Kyiv city and kids only), that altogether span 150 days (out of 365 in a year). More than 10000 young Ukrainian mathematicians participated. Full report about all events held in 2016 can be found this link.
Overall, 2.5M UAH ($93K) were spent for making these events as described in financial report.
Out of these, $12K were raised and spent by funding campaign held by Razom for Ukraine that covered participation and travel cost for official observers at International Mathematical Olympiad 2016.
Ukrainian government finances all official mathematical competitions, though keeps it at a bare minimum. Specifically, financing includes organization of district, regional and national olympiads, selection to represent Ukraine for international olympiad in mathematics (IMO) and participation of national team in IMO. In 2016 about $13K was funded by the government for the participation of 6 team members and team captain in IMO.
We, volunteers, hold yearly rounds of fundraising by individual donors and companies that support mathematical competitions in Ukraine. This funds raised cover additional needs for the organization of competitions, olympiads, training camps.
In 2017 we start this process again, and we offer you to chime in and donate to support young smart Ukrainians! Your help would be essential in making sure young talented kids whose families struggle to pay full cost of meal, travel, participation in mathematical olympiads and training camps would be included.
This year we plan to raise funds for the following events:
- Romanian Masters of Mathematics – rmms.lbi.ro/
Participation fee of 400 EUR for 5 students - 58th International Mathematical Olympiad – www.imo2017.org.br/
Participation and travel fees for observers (to be announced)
Our goal is to raise $20,000 in 2017 to support preparation and participation of young and bright Ukrainian students in International Mathematical Olympiad. You can help us reach this goal by donating to the project below. Join us to send the best-prepared team possible to bring home the gold from Rio de Janeiro 2017.
