OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The Connect Program Director is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and advancing Razom’s cultural programming to amplify Ukraine’s contemporary cultural and historical narrative on an international scale. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in cultural and educational program management, with experience engaging diverse audiences and fostering partnerships across arts, academia, and media.
The Connect Program Director leads a small but dynamic team, setting strategic goals and managing workflow for program staff specializing in campus outreach, cinema, literature, and other future initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Strategy and Vision
● Define the strategic direction of the Connect Program, aiming to make Ukraine’s cultural and historical narrative accessible and impactful for international audiences.
● Collaborate with team members to design and execute projects and events that enhance visibility, build solidarity, and connect U.S. audiences with Ukraine’s contemporary cultural and academic landscapes.
● Develop a framework for future collaboration with a curator based in Ukraine, ensuring on-the-ground cultural and academic trends shape the program’s focus to prioritize the best content from Ukraine that will find the most impactful audiences in the United States.
● Communicate and collaborate regularly with other Razom program directors to ensure the strategic development and success of the Connect program and to realize opportunities for collaboration in collaboration other Razom programs.
● In partnership with co-curators at Razom, develop and regularly iterate a theory of change for the program and each project.
Team Leadership and Development
● Supervise and mentor Connect team members, empowering them to act as curators within their areas of expertise while aligning their efforts with the Connect Program’s broader strategy.
● Foster a team culture that promotes collaboration, respect for Ukrainian cultural expertise, and thoughtful storytelling through each project.
● Collaborate with colleagues within Connect and across programs and work with volunteers and partner organizations as needed.
Stakeholder and Institutional Engagement
● With the help and input of internal curators, build and cultivate partnerships with cultural institutions, universities, media outlets, and advocacy groups to extend the reach of Razom’s cultural and academic programming in the US, and as relevant, the world.
● Serve as a connector and communicator with key cultural and academic stakeholders in the U.S. and Ukraine, securing support, sponsorships, and collaboration opportunities.
Media and Communications
● Cultivate relationships with media editors and journalists to ensure Razom’s cultural and academic events receive meaningful press coverage.
● Collaborate with the Advocacy and Advancement teams to align Connect programming and communication with Razom’s advocacy and fundraising objectives. Collaborate with other programs as relevant.
Project and Budget Management
● Lead the planning, budgeting, and logistical execution of Connect Program projects and events, ensuring they achieve both operational goals and respect cultural sensitivities.
● Ensure that all projects align with Razom’s mission and are designed to engage diverse audiences, including beyond the Ukrainian diaspora.
Leadership at Razom
● Represent the Connect program in organization-wide strategy development, planning, and budgeting processes.
● Support the development of Razom as the leading Ukraine-focused non-profit in the US with sustainable impact in support of a prosperous and democratic Ukraine.
● Support Razom’s fundraising efforts via public speaking at fundraising events, through donor engagement and relationship building, etc.
● Cooperate with the Advancement Team on fundraising campaigns and development of grant proposals relevant to Razom’s effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
● Minimum of 7 years in cultural or educational programming, curation, or project management within the arts or academia, with experience in Ukraine, Europe, or the U.S.
● Strong understanding of and curiosity for Ukrainian culture, history, and current events; ability to work collaboratively with artists, academics, and curators based in Ukraine.
● Proven project management skills, with a track record of leading complex cultural or educational projects from concept through completion.
● Skilled at cultivating productive relationships with a diverse range of artists, academics, and collaborators, guiding projects to align with the program’s mission.
● Proficiency in media relations, with a keen understanding of how to communicate cultural and educational narratives to Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian (especially North American) audiences.
● Ability to manage budgets and prioritize resources effectively.
● Talent for fostering cross-program collaboration.
● Proficiency of Ukrainian language/knowledge of Ukrainian audiences is a strong plus.
● Established network of relationships with cultural and educational institutions, media, and organizations aligned with Razom’s mission is a strong plus.

SALARY RANGE
$110,000-$135,000
Final salary based on experience and qualifications as well as finalized scope of work.
