eConsul: Easy pass to a modern Ukrainian Passport

 US   UKR

eConsul is a new online platform where you can apply or renew a Ukrainian passport. It’s the latest project from the volunteers at the Razom IT initiative.

Welcome to the 21st Century – where everything (or almost everything) is online and just a click away. In such a reality no government should lag behind. As electronic government (aka eGov) platforms are being introduced all around the globe, Razom is proud to have volunteered with several Consulates of Ukraine to bring useful information to those who are planning to renew or apply for a new biometric Ukrainian passport.

As of January 2018, Ukrainian citizens can book an appointment for certain date and time online, and complete the application form in advance, so they come to the consulate for a short 5-10 minutes – to finalize the application process by having their picture and fingerprints taken. No need to sit for hours waiting in line: the eConsul platform lets you be fully ready in advance, show up at your chosen time, and save you and the diplomats of Ukraine precious time.

The project started with the General Consulate of Ukraine in New York City, where the electronic appointment booking system became available on December 12, 2017. Within a month of launching, 320 Ukrainians successfully booked appointments at the New York consulate via the new platform. Seeing the efficiency and popularity of the system, the Consulates in Chicago and Dubai also asked to collaborate with the Razom IT team, and as of January 2018, the electronic booking system is up and running in both cities. Two more consulates are in progress of introducing the electronic appointment booking system. So stay tuned and look for an update soon.

Special thanks to the outstanding volunteers – Lyuba Shipovich and Dasha Ozimko – for leading this Razom IT project. The eConsul service is new and the platform is a work-in-progress, as Razom volunteers continuously improve the user experience of the new online booking system.

We are grateful to the consuls of Ukraine in NYC – Myroslav Kastran and Volodymyr Kravtsov, in Chicago – Larysa Gerasko, and in Dubai – Oleksandr Balanutsa, for the collaboration – for seeing the potential and for working to enhance the experience of the Ukrainians abroad.

Again, welcome to the age of electronic government and online booking! Use the platform for your own passport appointment and spread the word among the Ukrainian diaspora to make lives of us all a bit easier and more comfortable.
