Passport DC is month-long journey around the world highlighting DC’s thriving international diplomatic community and its lively and varied culture. We were honored to be invited by two different embassies, Embassy of Lithuania and Embassy of Ukraine to showcase Ukrainian culture during the Open Doors events of Passport DC.
Representatives of UNHCR (UN Refugee agency), UNICEF, and ECHO (EU Humanitarian aid and Civil Protection department) spoke about their important work of alleviating human suffering in Ukraine. They reaffirmed their commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the displaced people in Ukraine. These organizations are also ready to help Ukraine’s government rise to the urgent challenge of implementing the legal framework and physical infrastructure necessary to respond to the current IDP crisis.
On April 13th, 2015 Yale historian Timothy Snyder spoke at Columbia University on the ongoing hybrid war between Russian and Ukraine, and its significance for the region, Europe, and the world. Professor Snyder discussed how what may appear to be a regional crisis could soon shape more of the world.
Cultural exploration into an iconic Ukrainian figure.
In honor of Taras Shevchenko Month, this contemporary cultural event in Washington, D.C. explored the revolutionary Ukrainian figure that was Taras Shevchenko and his profound impact on Eastern European culture. Poetry, song, dance, and art brought a whole new element to the historical figure.
Toy Drive for the Children of Fallen Heroes is the rapidly expanding initiative carried out by Razom volunteers to render aid to families of Ukrainian military who died in action. We are collaborating with Волонтерська Сотня, Допомога Дітям Героїв, Майбутнє України and Логістичний штаб to identify potential donors, assemble care packages in the U.S. and deliver them directly to the families. continue reading →

New York – A team of international lawyers has just released its Report, “Crisis in Ukraine: Its Legal Dimensions” and recommendations on the ongoing crisis and armed conflict in Ukraine. Prepared for Razom, a Ukrainian-American human rights organization, this team of highly trained international lawyers has outlined legal conclusions on Eastern Ukraine; the annexation of Crimea; the Budapest Memorandum on international security guarantees; and the human rights and humanitarian law at issue.
