Razom Announces Fall 2024 Book Tours with Ukrainian Writers
Razom for Ukraine is proud to announce that this year we are
Razom Literature aims to increase the visibility of Ukrainian literature in the English speaking world. We develop relationships with publishers, translators, booksellers and readers. We urge publishers to notice the works of Ukrainian literature, help with the translation costs, and promote translated books.
Razom Literature is an important way we communicate with the world at large. Through literature people can explore another culture, learn about its past, present and about its aspirations. Through literature people can connect with people in another culture on an emotional level. Literature helps us to understand one another.
Each year we provide a small number of grants that assist in promoting the books prior to the publication or cover translation costs. Agents, publishers and translators are all eligible to apply for these grants. Among the books we supported in the past are Volodymyr Rafeyenko’s Mondegreen, Olena Stiazhkina Cecil the Lion Had To Die, Sophia Andrykhovich’s Amadoka, and Yuliya Ilyukha’s My Woman. Razom Literature was launched as a continuation of another Razom Initiative, Razom Book Club, when members of the club noticed how few of the books we were reading were translated into English. The desire to share this experience with our English speaking friends and with the larger world prompted us to create Razom Literature.
Our work doesn’t stop with the publishing. We organize events and book tours that promote the books to the American public.
