IN LATE FEBRUARY 2022, RAZOM VOLUNTEERS QUICKLY REALIZED THERE WOULD BE A NEED TO SUPPORT A WAVE OF DISPLACED UKRAINIANS (DUs) TO THE UNITED STATES.

To respond to this reality, Razom partnered with another Ukrainian nonprofit in NJ and started providing assistance to newly arriving displaced Ukrainians on both sides of the Hudson River. At the time, there was a lot of uncertainty pertaining to the immigration solution for newly arriving DUs and whether they could qualify for any assistance in the US. Razom promoted, hosted, and facilitated multiple immigration webinars, legal clinics, distribution events (clothing, food and hygiene) and medical clinics that provide DUs with daily necessities and the most up to date information that they needed.

While the war on Ukraine continues, so does Razom’s commitment to helping Ukrainians who arrive in New York because of it. Today, we offer help to newly arrived immigrants via this online informational hub and invite you to take advantage of its resources.

Our Impact

In March 2022, I flew to New York with my two children while my husband volunteered for the war! I arrived with nowhere to go, without relatives, money, or understanding of how I would survive in such a megacity. The first organization and person that extended a helping hand to me was Razom. I saw with my own eyes how much they do for newly arrived refugees from Ukraine. Of course, I couldn't stay on the sidelines during such a difficult time and became a volunteer for this organization myself.

On March 30, 2023, I found myself in New York City. Thanks to God, I found the organization RAZOM in Manhattan, where they found a role for me as a volunteer. Once again, I felt a sense of purpose in life. I found my element again and revived emotionally. We formed a wonderful volunteer family. I am very grateful to the leader of this project, Tamara, and her assistant Natalia, who organized everything so wonderfully. The war in Ukraine continues, and the Ukrainian people need support.

On September 13, Razom’s volunteers were caught in an airstrike while delivering humanitarian aid to Yampil Hospital in the Sumy region. Two bombs exploded just 100 meters from the hospital. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but shrapnel damaged vehicles and aid supplies. After the attack, the hospital treated injured civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, under extreme conditions.
